LA Chapter History
The Chapter was formed in February 1974 as Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., Western Region. It became a Non-Profit California Corporation in March 1974 and had its name changed in August 1977 to Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., Los Angeles Chapter.
This Chapter is one of 50 individually chartered chapters of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. While each chapter is required to comply with the Constitution and By-Laws of Tuskegee Airmen, Incorporated, each chapter is autonomous and can determine its own administrative procedures. Additionally, each chapter must comply with the appropriate laws of the state in which it is chartered. Although composed primarily of Veterans and Active Duty Persons of the Armed Forces, membership in our chapter is open to ALL PERSONS who share our goals, aims, and ambitions.
From 1978 thru 1984, this chapter sponsored and hosted Annual Awards Banquets during which our Distinguished Achievement Award(s) were presented. Honored at individual events were: The late Gen Daniel "Chappie" James; Gen David C. Jones; LtGen Benjamin O. Davis, Jr.; The Apollo XI Crew (Astronauts Aldrin, Armstrong, and Collins); Miss Lena Horne; Gen James H. "Jimmy" Doolittle; and Senator Barry Goldwater.
We are a dynamic, growing, prospering, forward looking, goal oriented and can-do organization. Join us! Help us grow larger and more financially able to help deserving youth!
